Dr. Steven M. Rose has served as the lead pastor of Muskogee First Assembly of God in Muskogee, Oklahoma, for over 30 years. Prior to coming to M1A, Steve served as the Kansas District Youth and Christian Education Director for the Assemblies of God. He has a strong love for youth and enjoyed directing summer camps, conventions, and missions trips for Kansas youth. He and his wife Debra recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They have two sons Chad and Jason. Chad serves as an Executive /Worship pastor in Springfield, Missouri. Jason serves as a Worship/Media Pastor in Bowie, Maryland. Their daughter Ashley teaches music at a Christian School in San Antonio, Texas. Steve grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and feels right at home when driving down the scenic highways to visit Branson, Missouri. His favorite hobby is reading about the latest cars. He is a proud subscriber of Car and Driver magazine and loves pulling it out while sipping on a grande vanilla latte from Starbucks.

M1A is known for their creative presentations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, community outreaches, and being committed to spreading the Gospel in foreign countries. M1A was established on November 12, 1927, with thirty-two members and stands upon the sacrifices of pastors and saints who paved the way before them. Steve counts it a privilege to be a part of their 85-year history. Since coming in 1990, he has led the congregation in constructing Christ Theatre, the Fellowship Centre, and the modernization of their 1100 seat auditorium with new décor and the latest media and sound technologies. In 2014, the state of the art M1AKids building was completed, providing the church with an additional 20,000 square feet of ministry space dedicated to reaching the children of Muskogee.

The congregation has grown from 250 members to over 1200 during his pastorate. Steve has traveled extensively overseas to preach, teach, and assist missionaries and native pastors. He recently had the rare privilege of visiting Assembly of God churches on the Island of Cuba. During his tenure at M1A, he has led over 65 mission trips in foreign countries, where M1A members built church structures, held medical clinics, and did adult, youth, and children’s outreach ministries. In 2012, Steve birthed a new vision for helping Muskogee’s children – SMART SCHOOL – a free, 8-week summer school program led by over 100 M1A volunteers.

Steve’s expertise is in small group and leadership development. He recently wrote a 325-page Leadership Manual for the local church. To date, over 200 students have graduated from his 6-month, college level Leadership School.

Steve received B.A. in Bible from Central Bible College. He also received a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries and a Doctorate of Ministry from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Prior to his pastoral ministry, he pursued a music degree from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. Steve is an accomplished pianist, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, and composer. His favorite music is contemporary worship. In earlier years, he traveled extensively in the U.S. and France with various musical, ministry teams.
